Zach Mettenberger to meet with Texans

Posted Feb 22, 2014

LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger confirms that he has a Saturday night meeting with the Texans.

The Texans will reportedly meet with LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Mettenberger said 15-20 teams met with him, including Jacksonville, Green Bay, and New Orleans.

Mettenberger confirmed that he will meet with both the Texans and Jets on Saturday night. Officially measured at 6-feet-5 and 224 pounds, he won’t be able to do much more at the Combine while he recovers from ACL surgery. Mettenberger expects to be cleared by doctors in April and says he will throw at his Pro Day scheduled for April 9.

Mettenberger tore knee ligaments in the Tigers’ final game of the season against Arkansa and is six weeks removed from surgery. He was projected to be a top-five quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft before his injury and could be a sleeper pick, according to some NFL experts.
