Ian Jones
Assistant Strength and Conditioning

Ian Jones enters his second season as assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Houston Texans in 2017.

Ian Jones enters his second season as assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Houston Texans in 2017.

In his first year with the team in 2016, the Texans won the AFC South division title and advanced to the Divisional Round for the first time since 2012. Jones served in a similar role on Head Coach Bill O’Brien’s staff at Penn State in 2013 and stayed at the school until joining the Cleveland Browns as a strength and conditioning assistant in 2016.

While at Penn State, Jones worked for USA Rugby as a strength and conditioning coach (2013-14).

From 2012-13, Jones served as a strength and conditioning assistant for London Welsh Rugby. Before that, he was a strength and conditioning intern for Eastern Michigan in 2012.

Additionally, Jones has worked as the head strength and conditioning coach for Cork Minor Gaelic Football and a regional strength and conditioning coach for Irish Hockey (2010-11). He started his coaching career as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of South Carolina (2010). 

Jones graduated from the University College Cork in Ireland and attended Middlesex University in London for graduate school. Originally from Bishopstown, Cork, Ireland, Jones now lives in Houston.
