CAREER: A sure-footed tackle with a combination of strength and quickness…selected in the third round but did not play during his rookie season for the Carolina Panthers…served as the primary backup at both tackle positions in 2007 with the Texans.

2007 (Houston 8/0):  Joined the Texans just prior to the start of the regular season when the team claimed him off waivers…saw action in eight games, primarily on special teams…served as the primary backup at both tackle positions in the second half of the season…inactive for the first eight games of the year…made his NFL debut at Oakland (11/4) on special teams and played in each of the last eight games…came on as a reserve tackle vs. Tampa Bay (12/9), Denver (12/13) and at Indianapolis (12/23).
 
2006 (Carolina 0/0): Dressed but did not play in one contest and was inactive for 11 games before being placed on injured reserve (11/8) with a staph infection.

Started all 12 games for the first time in his career at right tackle as a senior, including the Peach Bowl...member of the offensive line unit that helped offense average 353.1 yards per game...started final eight games of his junior season at left tackle, including the Peach Bowl victory over Florida…saw action in 10 games at right tackle with four starts as a sophomore...made his first career start against Florida and helped pave the way for the Miami offense to produce 454 total yards…graduated with a degree in sociology.

Selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (89th overall) of 2006 NFL Draft…released by Panthers on Sept. 3, 2007…claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on Sept. 3, 2007...re-signed by Texans on April 7, 2009.

Rated as the No.22 overall player in Florida by the Gainesville Sun and a SuperPrep All-America as a senior a Dwyer HS in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla....helped lead his team to the Florida Class 5A state finals during senior season...participated in the Lowes Day at the Movies League Program, 2007 Caravan Tour and the NFL/United Way "Hometown Huddle '06"…lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla....born Rashad Jamaal Butler.
