CAREER: Versatile young lineman who heads into his second season with the Texans…joined the Texans via trade in 2008 and immediately stepped into the starting lineup…has played in 57 games with 32 starts in four NFL seasons…has started all 16 games in both of the past two seasons, including 27 consecutive starts at center.

2008 (Houston 16/16): Started all 16 games in his first season in Houston…helped clear holes for rookie RB Steve Slaton to rush for a team-record 1,282 yards…started at center at Pittsburgh (9/7)…started at center and helped rookie RB Steve Slaton rush for his first 100-yard game at Tennessee (9/21)…was part of an offensive line that helped Slaton set a Texans rookie record with 156 rushing yards at Indianapolis (11/16)…part of the offensive line that helped Texans running backs combine for more than 100 yards rushing at Cleveland (11/23)…helped Slaton rush for 130 yards and two touchdowns on Monday Night Football vs. Jacksonville (12/1)…helped give QB Matt Schaub time to throw for 414 yards and two touchdowns and helped Slaton run for 120 yards at Green Bay (12/7)…part of the offensive line that paved the way for Slaton to run for his third consecutive 100-yard game vs. Tennessee (12/14)…part of a line that allowed Schaub to throw for 328 yards and two touchdowns in season finale vs. Chicago (12/28).

2005 (Denver 9/0): Saw action in nine games as a rookie, playing on special teams…also contributed in both Denver postseason contests…spent the first four weeks of the season on the Broncos' practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster (10/4)…inactive for three games before he made his NFL debut on special teams vs. Philadelphia (10/30)…played in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game vs. New England (1/14/06) and the AFC Championship Game vs. Pittsburgh (1/21/06) on special teams.

Three-year starter at Miami (Fla.), playing in a total of 45 games with 38 starts in his career…started at both guard positions, right tackle and center and finished his career earning all-conference recognition as a junior and senior…was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection as a senior, starting all 12 games at RT for the Peach Bowl champions and concluding his career by starting his final 38 games played…second-team All-Big East Conference as a junior...college teammate of current Texans T Rashad Butler, WR Andre Johnson and T Eric Winston at Miami…graduated with a bachelor's degree, studying history, political science and sports administration.

Earned All-State and All-Dade County honors as a senior at Palmetto High School in Miami despite the fact that he did not start playing football until 10th grade for the Panthers…played in the prestigious Florida vs. California All-Star game as a senior…won the NFL's Punt Pass and Kick competition as a child…grandfather was a longtime NFL referee.
