The first day of Texans training camp looked a lot like what happened in the month of May and June: Deshaun Watson found his tight ends, repeatedly.
Whether it was Jordan Thomas or Jordan Akins or Darren Fells or Jerell Adams, the quarterback hit his big targets quite often.
Rookie Kahale Warring is currently on the Active/Non-Football injury list, so he didn't catch any passes Thursday, but he's expected back soon.
Watson explained that while the chemistry is "very good" with his tight ends, it didn't originate between the white lines.
"The chemistry started off the field," Watson said. "Being able to hang with those guys off the field, they come by the house. We chill. Go out to eat. Go bowling. Do what we do. Have a little fun. That chemistry off the field leads on to the field."
The third-year signal-caller said he and the tight ends have communicated about where they want the ball "in a certain area on a certain route".
Thomas elaborated on the chemistry between Watson and the tight ends.
"We put in a lot of work this offseason," Thomas said. "So getting back in the rhythm, getting together with Deshaun, connecting with him, it feels good."
The Texans continue with training camp on Friday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
