On Tuesday, Deshaun Watson announced the launch of his own charitable organization, The Deshaun Watson Foundation. The newly-established nonprofit is dedicated to the support of education, health, housing and other charitable causes to support youth in underserved communities.
Watson, who grew up in public housing in Gainesville, Georgia, had his own childhood positively impacted when his mother applied for and received a brand-new home from Habitat from Humanity. Now in his third NFL season, the Texans quarterback wants to give back to others growing up under similar circumstances.
"I am humbled and honored that I have the opportunity to make a difference and positively impact children and families in need through the Deshaun Watson Foundation," Watson said. "I would not be where I am today without the help from others. Now it's my turn to step in and make a difference through the Foundation."
The Deshaun Watson Foundation will host its first event, The Great Houston Halloween Bash presented by Reliant, at the Pro-Vision Academy in Sunnyside Houston on Tuesday, October 29. Students will experience a fall festival at their school and will also be provided with free costumes to participate in trick-or-treating, contests and much more.
