Jayden Payne's heroic rescue impressed quarterback Deshaun Watson so much, he invited the local high school student to the Texans next home game.
Payne, who plays football Aldine High School, saved a woman and her young child from heavy flooding last Thursday when Tropical Depression Imelda unleashed torrential rain on southeast Texas. When Payne saw the woman's SUV submerge into a ditch near his high school, he jumped into treacherous flood waters without thinking twice. The teenager, along with two other men, pulled the mother and toddler out of the rising water and saved their lives.
Payne, who has been getting national media coverage for his bravery, saw Watson's invitation and accepted.
The (2-1) Texans next play the (1-2) Carolina Panthers at NRG Stadium on Sunday.
