Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense needed less than a yard.
So he got them 21. And a score.
Facing 4th-and-1 at the New Orleans' 21-yard line Monday night, Watson faked a handoff to Carlos Hyde, kept it, and ran up the left side. He leaped along the sideline, was able to crack the plane of the goal line, and the Texans were on the scoreboard.
Ka'imi Fairbairn's extra point attempt was good, and Houston was staked to a 7-0 advantage at the 14:19 mark in the second quarter.
The scoring run capped off a drive that saw the Texans go 94 yards in seven plays, and burn 3:42 off the clock.
On the drive's first play, Watson went deep up the middle, finding Will Fuller, V for a 54-yard gain. On the play, Fuller was able to reach over Eli Apple and pull in the pass.
The Houston Texans are warmed up and ready to take on the New Orleans Saints for the first game of the 2019 NFL Season. The Texans pregame photos are presented by Gatorade.
