TORO Shoots for the STAAR

TORO Shoots for the STAAR presented by First Community Credit Union is an educational and entertaining assembly to teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students how to prepare for their STAAR Test, but there's one problem: TORO is afraid of the word "Test" and this time of the school year has him very worried. With the help of TORO's friends at NRG Stadium, TORO learns that that tests are nothing to be afraid of when you properly prepare just like the Houston Texans prepare for a football game. During the program, students will learn how to prepare their bodies and mind for the test through proper nutrition, getting daily exercise, listening attentively, developing consistent study habits and practicing their STAAR strategies. The program includes a 45 minute interactive assembly, an activity book for each student and other great prizes.

The Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Joel Heath and the best mascot in the NFL, TORO visited McNeil Elementary to help motivate the students before taking the STAAR test, in partnership with First Community Credit Union!

Our partnership with First Community Credit Union helps us provide this program at no cost to 20 different schools each year. Nominations are accepted for the program year-round. Winners are contacted at the beginning of the spring semester and shows are performed each week prior to the STAAR testing dates in April and May.
