ILB Brian Cushing returned to building on Tuesday

Posted Nov 28, 2017

Brian Cushing was back with the Texans on Tuesday at NRG Stadium.

Brian Cushing was back in the building on Tuesday.

The franchise's all-time leading tackler was suspended on September 13 for 10 games. He left the Week 1 loss to the Jaguars with a concussion. Head coach Bill O'Brien said he "was glad" to see the 9-year veteran back at NRG Stadium, but didn't have much information on whether or not Cushing would play again soon.

"I just saw him," O'Brien said during a Tuesday press conference. "He's been away from us for awhile, obviously. First things first, personally we've got to get caught up. See where he's at. See how he's doing and then kind of go from there."

Cushing logged a tackle against Jacksonville on September 10, and came off a 2016 in which he tallied 65 stops. The 2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and the team's 2011 Team MVP, Cushing was the Texans' first round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

"Being in football playing shape, and being in shape, are two totally different things," O'Brien said. "There's no assumptions being made here. First thing we gotta do is see how he's doing. We're not in a rush to do anything."

The Texans will return to practice on Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
