RB Chris Polk returns to practice Saturday

Running back Chris Polk returned to the field on Saturday in time for the Texans final joint practice in Richmond. Polk injured his hamstring in camp and was sidelined for three days of practice.

"Anytime we can get all of our players out there, it's important," head coach Bill O'Brien said Saturday. "He's missed some time and him being back out there today helped that running back situation depth-wise. It was good."

Polk, who spent the past three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, signed with the Texans as an unrestricted free agent in April. With Arian Foster out for the foreseeable future with a groin injury, O'Brien hopes that Polk can be significant contributor when healthy.

"I see him as a three-down back," O'Brien said. "He's still learning our system. He needs to be out there every day. He's working hard to stay healthy. He's a really good guy. He's a hard working guy. Biggest thing with him is health."

Polk is competing with backs Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Kenny Hilliard, and fullback Jay Prosch for a roster spot in training camp.
