TE Stephen Anderson ready for Year 2 as a Texan

Posted Jun 13, 2017

TE Stephen Anderson has high hopes for 2017 and described how much fun this offseason has been.

Stephen Anderson is a lot more comfortable.

The tight end is no longer a rookie. He played 13 games last autumn, catching 11 passes for 93 yards and a score. He's had a full offseason under his belt, and been able to further soak up the intricacies of the offense. Most of all, he's having fun.

"It’s great because you can play loose, play relaxed and everyone plays better when they’re playing more loose and more relaxed," Anderson said Tuesday. "Going out there, competing, trying to get better every day. I know mistakes will be made but as long as you learned from it and then adjust and make sure it doesn’t happen again then that’s good football right there."

Anderson was part of a tight end trio in 2016 that included C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin. Those three combined to produce the best season for a tight end group in franchise history, setting records for catches and yards. The best, though, might be yet to come.

"We can be much better," Anderson said. "We try to chase perfection, lead by example, be that hardworking, reliable group on the team. That’s kind of our mindset coming into this season."

Anderson and the Texans continue with minicamp on Wednesday and Thursday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
