Alfred Blue scores lone TD in Texans loss to Colts

Posted Dec 31, 2017

Alfred Blue bulled in for a 2-yd TD in the 2nd quarter.

The high point of a busy first half of work for Alfred Blue came when he barrelled in for a 2-yard touchdown.

In Indianapolis against the Colts, on 2nd-and-1 from the Houston two-yard line, Blue took the handoff and gave the Texans the lead. After Ka'imi Fairbairn's extra point was good, the Texans were on top by a 10-7 margin at the 6:55 mark of the second quarter.

"It was just a downhill play," Blue said of his score. "The line covered them up and I found a hole and got in there and just kept my legs moving until I got in the end zone."

A comeback in the second half by Indianapolis, however, saw the Texans fall 22-13. They ended their season 4-12.

Blue was active in the first 30 minutes, as he carried the ball 13 times for 34 yards, and caught three passes for 24 yards. His touchdown was the first score of the season for the 4th-year running back.

"It was there in the first half," Blue said. "They made a good adjustment in the second half. They made a lot of key run stops in the second half."

On the day, he rushed 18 times for 39 yards, and caught four passes for 36 yards.

"He did really good," quarterback T.J. Yates said of Blue's first half of work. "He ran the ball really hard. He was there on all the checkdowns."

Before the intermission, the Texans held the ball for 19:19 in comparison to just 10:41 for the Colts.

"It seemed like we got a little rhythm in the first half," guard Xavier Su'a-Filo said. "We struggled a little bit to find it in that second half.

Blue finished the season with 262 rushing yards in 11 games played.
