Jaelen Strong returns to practice

After missing four games with an ankle injury, Jaelen Strong could be back for Sunday’s division matchup at Indianapolis.

"I’d say he’s probably in the day-to-day category,” head coach Bill O’Brien said Wednesday.

The third-year wide receiver participated in practice, but was limited. In a game with major playoff implications as both (6-6) teams battle for the AFC South, Strong's presence would be a big boost to the offense, especially given his record against the Colts.

“Each team is fun to play against, the Colts being in our division makes it a lot more so,” Strong said. “Just got to take it one practice at a time.”

In Week 6, Strong made a crucial 36-yard catch to set up Nick Novak’s game-winning field goal in overtime in the Texans 26-23 comeback over the Colts.

Last season, all three of Strong’s touchdowns came against Indianapolis. His first career reception on Oct. 8, 2015 came on a 42-yard Hail Mary touchdown as time expired in the first half. Strong finished with two catches for 53 yards, both touchdowns in that game. In Week 15, he hauled in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Weeden in the fourth quarter at Indianapolis to give the Texans a 13-10 lead, their first of the game.

Through eight games with two starts this season, Strong has 14 receptions for 131 yards.

The Texans will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to play the Colts on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. on CBS and SportsRadio 610.
