Most of our locations will require physical labor and you might get dirty! Wear comfortable clothes, closed toes shoes, and we will provide you with a Texans Care Volunteer Shirt upon your arrival.
Where should I park?
Specific instructions on where to park your vehicle for each location will be included in your instructions sent via email as the event gets closer.
What time should I arrive?
We ask that each of our volunteers arrive by no later than 7:45am on the morning of May 11 to allow for plenty of time to check in. Instruction for the volunteers will begin promptly at 8:00am.
My child is under the age of 16, can they volunteer with me?
Due to the guidelines from our Texans Care Volunteer Day sites, we are only able to allow volunteers at least 16 years old to volunteer at this time, with the exception of the Houston Food Bank, where children are able to volunteer but must be at least 6 years old.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
All supplies required for these sites will be provided for you upon arrival, so you will not need to bring anything additional with you to volunteer. Any other details specific to the location that you choose will be communicated closer to the event date.
Will there be food and water available?
The Texans will be providing snacks and beverages to all of our volunteers at each site at no additional cost.
What if it rains?
While many of our projects are outside, we will work to provide indoor opportunities should we have bad weather. If required, we will communicate with our volunteers via email prior to the event if we need to cancel a volunteer opportunity.
Can I change my site after I've already registered?
We ask that you choose carefully before registering for a site for Texans Care Volunteer Day. Once you have registered for one location, we will not be able to change your site.
What if I have to cancel?
The volunteer opportunities we are offering are based on the number of volunteers we have sign up. So we can ensure that we complete each project for our sites, please make every effort to attend your shift. In the event of extenuating circumstances, you can email texanscare@houstontexans.com to cancel.
Will the professional pictures be available afterwards?
We will have the pictures up on our website (HoustonTexans.com) the week following Texans Care Volunteer Day available for our volunteers to view.
