After playing last season's road game with the Jaguars in London, the Texans return to Jacksonville for the first time since 2018.
The Texans beat Jacksonville, 26-3, last year at Wembley Stadium in the away contest. Two years ago at TIAA Bank Field, both squads entered the game with 3-3 records. Because of ribs and lung injuries, Deshaun Watson rode a bus from Houston to Jacksonville for the game, and guided the Texans to a 20-7 triumph. For Houston, that victory was part of a franchise-best 9-game win streak. For the Jaguars, the loss was one in a 7-game skid.
Houston's won six of the last eight games in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars finished fourth in the AFC South last year, going 6-10.
In four seasons as the Jaguars' head coach, Doug Marrone has a record of 22-28. He was the head coach of the Bills in 2013 and 2014. His career record is 37-45. His best season was 2017, when the Jaguars went 10-6 to win the AFC title. They advanced to the AFC Championship game.
The Texans have played Jacksonville 36 times in franchise history, and own a 23-13 record against the Jaguars. Houston's won the last four meetings, and since Week 17 of 2011 is 15-4 in the series. Nine of those 15 victories have been by 10 or more points.
Notable Jaguars: QB Gardner Minshew, RB Leonard Fournette, WR D.J. Chark, DE Yannick Ngakoue, DE/OLB Josh Allen,
Bryan Anger punted for the Jaguars from 2012-15.
