Near record-setting attendance announced at Pro Bowl

At the two-minute warning of the first half, a near record-attendance of 70,697 was announced in the press box. Stands don't look completely full, but there really aren't very many empty seats here at Sun Life Stadium.

The attendance mark is the second-highest in NFL all-star game history, which dates back to 1939. The record is 72,250, set in 1959.

Side note- during the two-minute intermission, there was an NFL mascots skit on the field. The mascots piled on one another in a big tussle, prompting a columnist from the front row of the press box to remark, "I think that's the best hitting we've seen all night." To be sure, tackling has not been an emphasis in this game.
