Thriller in Indy | VanderBlog

REG13- vandy

Calling games at Indianapolis is high drama for me. The emotions run hot. Memories haunt me of Peyton Manning running clinics at the old RCA Dome and the fact that it took 14 tries to finally knock off the Colts in their home gym.

Sunday's showdown was yet another thriller between these division foes. The Colts needed this game badly, as they had lost two of their last three and were playing at home for the first time in over a month.

The Texans continued their long climb up the standings with a sizzling 20-16 victory that further established them as a 'team no one wants to play' down the stretch, and beyond.

C.J. Stroud, playing in his first game in four weeks, connected with six different receivers on his way to a 276 yard afternoon. Woody Marks and Nick Chubb combined for 98 yards and Nico Collins added seven more for his first rushing TD. Collins, who's had huge games at Lucas Oil Stadium, continued the trend, with a five catch, 98-yard performance that saw him become the fifth Texan to get over the 4,000 yard reception mark.

As usual, the defense came up huge. Holding the number one scoring offense in the league to 16 points, in their own building, was no small feat. At the moment of truth, they turned the Colts over on downs, getting the ball back for a clock-killing possession from the Texans offense.

Every game feels bigger than the last one, and that's going to be the case the rest of the way. The margin for error left the building long ago. The Texans are now winning the close games, including four in a row and seven of their last nine.

Next item to cross off the list is beating the Chiefs at Arrowhead, something the Texans haven't done since 2019. They'll be on the national stage facing a squad that's reeling but has the heart of a champion.

It's the next game, it's the latest 'biggest game' and we'll be there to bring it to you on Sunday night.
