Thursday North Sr. Bowl Notes

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following blog is part of HoustonTexans.com's 2010 NFL Draft coverage presented by FOX Sports Houston.

MOBILE, Ala. - Another sunny morning in Mobile, and the final full practice for the North team is over. Tomorrow they'll do a walkthrough, and then on Friday it's game time.

The North, which is being coached by the Detroit Lions' staff, went through an hour-and-a-half of work. Afterwards on the field, we were able to talk with Boise State CB/S Kyle Wilson, Oregon RB LeGarrette Blount and Wayne State RB Joique Bell. You can listen to those conversations here.

For now, check out a few quickhit observations from today's proceedings...

-Virginia defensive back Chris Cook picked off a pass in the end zone during the 7-on-7 period, but on the very next rep, he was juked out for a touchdown catch by Pittsburgh's Dorin Dickerson. Such is the life of a DB at the Senior Bowl. Cook is big for a corner (6-1, 212 and matched up well with the various North receivers in practice today.

-Another DB is Brandon Ghee from Wake Forest. During the team drills at the end of practice he slapped away a would-be touchdown pass, eliciting a string of whoops from his teammates. Ghee's a bit smaller than Cook, at 5-11, 183.

-During 7-on-7 drills, Rutgers DB Devin McCourty broke up a Dan LeFevour touchdown pass in the end zone.

-Running back Lonyae Miller of Fresno State (we talked with him yesterday) ran between the tackles for a tough pair of touchdowns near the end of team drills. He bulled in from seven yards out on the first one, and for 10-yards on the second one a few plays later.

-Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is talkative on the field. His voice could be heard above the rest (excluding coaches) today.

We'll have a complete wrapup later today in our practice report, and don't forget to listen to some of the comments from this morning's podcast.
