Whitney Mercilus was just a rookie when he last faced Aaron Rodgers at NRG Stadium in 2012. The Texans starting outside linebacker, who grew up watching him, never had a chance to talk to Rodgers before or after the game.
In fact, it was about a year later and over a thousand miles away in California before he did.
Mercilus met Rodgers when the two trained at the same spot in the Los Angeles area in 2013 and then again this past offseason.
"(He's) a cool guy, chill," Mercilus said. "We'll start off talking about football but then after that, he's like, 'Hey how are you doing? How's everything?"
Mercilus, who attended college in neighboring Illinois, will have his first chance to play at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
"Never been up there so it will be cool to go up there, experience it, and get a win at the same time against Aaron Rodgers," Mercilus said.
The Texans will face the Packers in the first of back-to-back road games in December. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT on CBS and SportsRadio 610.
