Players will return to NRG Stadium Monday, April 18 for the start of the league's 2016 offseason program.
As per the 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement, workouts are voluntary and conducted over a period of nine weeks. The NFL offseason program, including OTAs (organized team activities), is conducted in three phases:

Phase One: The first two weeks consist of strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two: The next three weeks include on-field workouts with individual player instruction and drills. Coaches are allowed on the field, but no live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three: The final four weeks of the program consists of team activities. Clubs are permitted to conduct a total of ten days of OTAs. No live contact is permitted but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are allowed.

Teams can conduct one mandatory veteran minicamp but it must be occur during Phase Three.

The NFL announced key offseason dates earlier this month. The 2016 Houston Texans offseason schedule is as follows (dates are tentative and subject to change):

Start date: April 18
Offseason workouts: May 23-24, May 26, May 31, June 1-2, June 6-7, June 9-10
