The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award will be announced later this morning. Texans rookie linebacker Brian Cushing, a front-runner for the award, admitted on Monday that receiving the honor would be important to him.
"That would be nice," he said. "There's no question that's something I want. But it's not up to me. It's out of my hands right now, and whatever happens, happens."
After being drafted in the first round out of USC, Cushing had 134 tackles, five sacks, four interceptions and a safety this season.
