Four Things to Know Ahead of the 2020 Schedule Release | Daily Brew

The wait is finally over!

The NFL will reveal its full slate of 256 games on the 2020 schedule TODAY. Here are four things to know ahead of the Houston Texans 2020 schedule:

1. Exclusive early schedule release for teams

For the first time ever, fans will get their Houston Texans 2020 schedule 30 minutes ahead of the NFL's official release at 7 p.m. CT. Traditionally, all 32 teams release their schedule at the same time the league drops the full 256-game lineup. This year, the Texans will release their 2020 schedule FIRST at 6:30 p.m. with full analysis on all social media channels and on Texans Access on SportsRadio 610. 2. Preseason matchups

In previous, non-coronavirus years, the NFL would dole out the preseason matchups separately from the regular season schedule. This year, because of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the preseason reveal was delayed. Expect the NFL schedule for all 32 clubs to include each team's preseason matchups which – until tonight – have been a secret.

3. No international games

The NFL cancelled all international games for the 2020 season, four in London and one in Mexico City. The league has rescheduled all five games to be played inside the United States due to the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This won't affect the Texans 2020 schedule, since Houston played its international game last year at Wembley Stadium and was not scheduled for another game outside the U.S. in 2020.

4. A very, very good chance for a Thanksgiving Day game

For the first time in 8 years, the Texans could be facing the Lions in a nationally-televised Thanksgiving Day game. The football stars aligned for a Detroit-AFC matchup this year on Thanksgiving, something that occurs every other year. Also, the AFC South will face the NFC North in 2020. And finally, the only two AFC teams that Detroit will play at home this season are the Indianapolis Colts and…you guessed it…the Texans.
