Meet Coach Tyrone Green | Coach of the Week

Week 2
School: Shadow Creek High School
Years Coaching: 21

How long have you been coaching? Where did your career begin? College\university you attended?

I am originally from Northeast Mississippi around the Tupelo area. I started coaching at Houston Lamar high school in 2003. I played football at the University of Houston from 2000-03. This will be my 21st year of coaching in high school.

Why do you coach?

I coach because the coaches I had in my life were instrumental in helping to mold me into the man I am today. So, I wanted to give back at the high school level where I can help guide kids in the right direction and try to be a positive role model they can count on.

What is the most rewarding\fulfilling part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to help a kid become successful in whatever they decide to do. Seeing them walk across the stage or get that scholarship offer is awesome.

In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood thing about the coaching profession?

Probably the most misunderstood part of coaching is all the hours we put into it and it still might not go though way you plan. We spend tons of time away from our own families in order to try to be successful.

Please share the importance of what your staff/ players are doing for your community?

I think it is representing the community and school district in a positive manner. Helps bring a community together for a common cause. We try to make people proud to wear Shadow Creek paraphernalia.
