Most of 2021 opponents now set for the Texans

(NOTE: This article was originally published on January 4, 2021. In May, the 2021 regular season schedule was released.)

The opponents are set for the Texans in 2021. For the most part. In four months or so, they'll know the exact schedule.

The NFL is likely moving to a 17-game schedule next fall, so the Texans will probably play an NFC South team, according to a Tweet from Albert Breer of SI.com. The Texans would play the Panthers, in that case, at NRG Stadium.

The Texans fell to the Titans at NRG Stadium in Week 17. They finished as the third place team in the AFC South.

Coming into the day, Houston knew who and where 14 of their opponents for next season would be. The only question marks were in the AFC North and the AFC West. By virtue of their third place finish in the AFC South, the Texans would play the third place teams from the AFC North and the AFC West. The Browns are the North's third place team, while Chargers are the West's third place squad. They'll play at Cleveland again next season, and will host the Chargers next autumn.

The Texans will play at home and on the road against their divisional foes Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Tennessee. They'll also face the AFC East, with home dates against the Patriots and Jets, and road trips to Miami and Buffalo. The NFC West is on tap as well, with home games versus the Rams and Seahawks, and roadies at Arizona and San Francisco.

The Texans will know when they'll face their opponents when the 2021 NFL regular season schedule gets released in April or May.
