Sonya chimes in on life as a "rookie"

The Texans' season has officially started and with a few games under my belt, I am feeling just a little more comfortable with everything that goes into being a Houston Texans Cheerleader. From practices, community appearances, media and gamedays to interacting with our awesome fans, it is truly an amazing time to be a part of the Texans family. Being a member of the squad has been a continuous learning experience for me and my fellow rookies.

I will never forget the first time we all walked on to the field for practice before the first preseason game I was walking with Ashley C and as soon as we passed through the tunnel and saw the empty stadium for the first time, we both looked at each other smiled. The sheer sense of accomplishment we felt was overwhelming and emotional.

My favorite memory so far is the Texans vs. Cowboys preseason game. The energy in the stadium that day was electric. The fans were so into the game that I could barely hear Teri (Teresa), my line captain, call out the dances on the sidelines. Each game so far has truly been completely different from the last, but my absolute favorite part of every game has been walking out of the tunnel right before TORO and the players are introduced.

I think my fellow rookies would agree that we are proud to say that we are Houston Texans Cheerleaders. The time, energy, dedication and sweat that goes into this squad is truly what makes us one of a kind.

See you out at the stadium!
