The Houston Texans will enter the 2025 season with five captains.
QB C.J. Stroud, DE Will Anderson Jr., and Azeez Al-Shaair return as captains once again. RB Dare Ogunbowale and WR Nico Collins join them as first-time captains. Ogunbowale was previously a captain in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Stroud and Anderson Jr. were selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Texans. Al-Shaair joined the team last season after spending a year with the Tennessee Titans. He previously worked with Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans in San Francisco.
Ogunbowale joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2017 before spending time with the Commanders, Buccaneers, and Jaguars. He returned to Houston ahead of the 2022 season. This is the first time he has been named a captain for the Texans.
The Texans drafted Collins in 2021 out of Michigan. This is his first season as a captain following superb years in 2023 and 2024.
