Texans vs. Jaguars, By the Numbers | Daily Brew

It's time for our annual, well, nearly annual (thanks, London in 2019) trip to Jacksonville to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Here is my "By the Numbers/Daily Brew" for Week 15 in DUUUUVALLLL County.

7 - this will be my seventh trip to the sidelines at TIAA Bank Field. One trip to the Jacksonville sideline was actually spent in London in 2019, which was another win for the Texans.

5 - The Texans have won five of the six trips, including last year's 27-25 win over the Jaguars, looking to make six in seven trips after Sunday. The only loss came in 2017 as the Jaguars locked up the AFC South on a December afternoon in Duval County.

2 - This will be the second game of the Texans season in which rookies will start for both teams at quarterback. Week 5 featured Davis Mills (Texans) & Mac Jones (Patriots), while this week will feature Mills & Trevor Lawrence.

6 - The Jaguars have turned teams over just six times in 2021

9 - The Texans turned teams over nine times in 2020.

21 (in 21) - The Texans have turned teams over 21 times in 2021.

0 - Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence lost ZERO regular season games in his three years as a starter at Clemson (just two in total - a semifinal playoff game and a national championship game).

449 - The Texans offense finished with 449 yards of total offense in that win in Week 1 over the Jaguars. It would be greatly appreciated for the offense to put up a number in that range.

4 - The Jaguars registered four sacks of Titans QB Ryan Tannehill last week, holding the Titans to just 20 points. How did they lose 20-0?? Next bullet point.

4 - The Titans picked off Trevor Lawrence four times in Nashville last week and the Texans picked off Lawrence three times in Houston in Week 1. I'll take either number this week against the talented rookie.

1 - The Texans will have just one starter from Week 1 on the defensive front seven ready to roll (of course, it's all dependent upon certain players passing COVID testing prior to Sunday - that one person is Maliek Collins). One was traded. One was waived. One was released. Two are, currently, on the COVID-19 reserve list. Collins is the only front seven starter currently IN for sure on Sunday.

2 - Adding in the secondary, the Texans project to have just two DEFENSIVE starters on Sunday (Collins & Eric Murray) that started against the Jaguars, unless, again, players are able to pass COVID protocols before kickoff at 1 PM EST/12 PM CST. Even if all defensive players are able to return from the COVID reserve list before Sunday, the number of starters in Week 1 that would start and play in week 15 is just five in total.

Alright, that's going to do it for this week's By the Numbers/Daily Brew. Hope the number we can use after Sunday is 3…as in wins for the Texans after beating the Jaguars on Sunday. Let's GO!! See ya then, everyone.
