Happy Monday morning to you. Hopefully your week is off to a great start.
On Saturday night at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, the J.J. Watt Charity Classic was played. Watt and a dozen former teammates squared off against a crew of current Texans, and they helped raise money for the J.J. Watt Foundation. It was a really fun time, and the old guys beat the young guys by a 14-1 margin.
Former punter Shane Lechler took down quarterback Case Keenum in the home run derby at the start of the night, and it was about the fourth or fifth time Lechler's won that event.
He was asked in a press conference at the event about whether or not his playing days are truly over. Watt gave an interesting answer.
Ultimately, it was a phenomenal evening seeing so many greats from the past mingling with the players of today. The future is bright with those guys, and the crowd ate it up.
Watt, as always, capped it off perfectly.
The Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Alexander wrote a nice piece on first-rounder Kamari Lassiter's fit in the defense here.
John McClain, meanwhile, recapped how the rest of the AFC South is trying to load up for the Texans this year, and the years ahead.
If you missed it over the weekend on ABC-13/KTRK, or on YouTube, we aired our annual Draft Special. You can watch it below.
