Big Numbers Ahead of Week 6 | Daily Brew

The Texans travel for their first road division game of the season against the undefeated Tennessee Titans. The Mike Vrabel-led Titans are coming off a 42-16 shellacking of the previously undefeated Buffalo Bills, just three nights ago on Tuesday night. As such, it's a short week for the Titans and a travel week for the Texans. Let's get into the numbers on this one.

12 - the combined wins of the Texans three road opponents this year. The Chiefs are 4-1. The Steelers continue to be undefeated at 4-0 and the Titans finished off the Bills to remain without a loss at 4-0.

1 - the combined number of losses for the Texans three road opponents this year. The Chiefs are the only team to have lost, which was last week v. Oakland 40-32

211 - rushing yardage for Titans star running back Derrick Henry in week 17 against the Texans. He carried the rock 32 times for a 6.59 per carry average and three touchdowns. On the flip side, he also faced a skeleton Texans defensive crew as nearly every starter sat out that game with the AFC South already clinched.

362 - total rushing yardage for Titans star running back Derrick Henry against the Texans in his seven previous games. Take out his 75 yard touchdown run in 2017 when the game was essentially over and it's just 287 yards in 7 games (41 yards per game). Here's hoping for one of those games, as opposed to what he did in week 17.

3.72 - Henry's yards per attempt in 2020 in four games. In 2019, he averaged 5.1 yards per carry for the entire season.

75 - The Texans held the Jaguars to 75 yards rushing on 20 carries, without question the best performance against a rushing attack in 2020.

3.75 - The Jaguars per carry average last Sunday against the Texans in Houston's 30-14 win.

0 - number of catches for Texans receiver Brandin Cooks in week four against the Minnesota Vikings.

8 - number of catches for Texans receiver Brandin Cooks in week five against the Jacksonville Jaguars - eight receptions for 161 yards and one touchdown.

8.2 - average completed air yards (CAY) per completion for Deshaun Watson and the Texans, which leads the league. The Titans CAY is 7.3, 7th in the league. Meaning? It means both teams like to throw the ball down the field a bit.

5 - the number of Texans with multiple sacks on the season, led by Whitney Mercilus with 3.0 (Mercilus, Zach Cunningham, J.J. Watt, Jacob Martin and Charles Omenihu)

0 - the number of Tennessee Titans with multiple sacks on the season. Five players have 1.0 sacks on the season for a total of 5.0.

4 - the number of times that Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been sacked this season.

17 - the number of times that Deshaun Watson has been sacked this season.

Alright, that's going to do it for this week on my Daily Brew/By the Numbers - a marriage that works well during the season. See y'all from Nashville!
