Brandon Weeden tosses TD in win over Cowboys

DeAndre Hopkins started three games for the Cowboys in 2015.

He came back to Arlington on Thursday night and helped the Texans beat his former team, 28-17.

"I felt good," Weeden said. "I felt like I saw things well. Overall I thought there were some good things offensively. We ran a lot of plays. We ran the ball extremely well."

Weeden threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Keith Mumphery with 33 seconds left in the first half. It came on 3rd-and-3 from the Houston 36-yard line, and it gave the Texans a 14-7 lead. They wouldn't trail again in the ballgame.

"I just wanted to give him a chance," Weeden said. "Put a little more air on it and maybe just let him get a chance to go make a play. When you get hit like that and you complete it, it doesn't hurt quite as bad."

On the evening, Weeden completed 9-of-13 passes for 116 yards. He was intercepted once, but finished with a QB rating of 90.7. Tom Savage started, but Weeden alternated series with him throughout the contest.

"He had the one pick-six but I thought he made some nice throws too," head coach Bill O'Brien said. "I thought they both led us on some nice drives."

Weeden and the Texans finished the preseason 4-0 for the first time in franchise history.
