Breakfast: Texans preseason superlatives

The Texans will face Carolina, New England, New Orleans, and Dallas this fall, the team announced Monday.

Houston will play the Cowboys in the preseason finale for the third consecutive year, while matching up against the Patriots for the first time in preseason history.

Here are some other notable records in Houston's preseason history:

Most preseason matchups: 10 (DAL, NO)
Both Dallas and New Orleans have faced the Texans 10 times in the preseason. Tampa Bay is second with nine preseason matchups.

Least preseason matchups: 0 (13 different teams)
New England plays the Texans for the first time in preseason history, but 12 other teams still have not squared off against Houston in the preseason including every AFC South opponent.
Teams who have never played Houston in the preseason: CIN, BUF, CLE, IND, TEN, JAC, PHI, DET, GB, NE, WAS, BAL, SEA

Most points scored in a preseason game: 34 (Arizona, 8/28/16)The Texans defeated the Arizona Cardinals 34-24 last year in Week 3 of the preseason. Lamar Miller rushed for a touchdown, while rookie Will Fuller V and Jaelen Strong each caught a touchdown pass on back-to-back drives in the second quarter.

Most rushing yards: 114 (Justin Forsett, 8/30/12)
Justin Forsett rushed for 114 yards on 13 attempts and scored two touchdowns in the 28-24 win over Minnesota. Forsett surpassed Arian Foster's previous record of eight catches for 110 yards and a touchdown just two years earlier against Dallas (8/28/10).

Most receiving yards: 148 (Jacoby Jones, 9/4/09)Three different receivers have eclipsed 100 yards receiving in a single preseason game. Andre Johnson did it twice (New Orleans, 8/20/11 and 8/25/13), while Kevin Walter caught six passes including a touchdown for 100 yards in 2008 against the Saints. But, it was Jacoby Jones who set a preseason record with a three receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown against Tampa Bay in 2009.

Most total yards in a preseason game: 496 (New Orleans, 8/25/13)
The Texans put up 141 yards rushing and 355 yards passing with a trio of quarterbacks under center: Matt Schaub, Case Keenum, and T.J. Yates.
