Camp quotes: Day 19

Wideout Jacoby Jones returns a punt during the team's walkthrough practice.

The Texans held a walkthrough practice Friday morning in the Superdome. It was the team's last workout before Saturday's game against the Saints.

WR David Anderson

(on his haircut) "I grew it out, and I've cut it a couple of different ways. As the season comes, I'll shave it. You've got to look professional."

(on his making it hard for the Texans not to keep him) "That's a goal. You want to make as many plays as you can and do as much as you can to stay on this team. It's the Texans, and I want to be here. This will be year three for me, so this is the time for me to shine. I've got to take advantage of every opportunity."

(on being released and re-signed) "Of course, that reminds you of how hard it is in this business. You can make plays all over the field, but sometimes just the numbers game doesn't work. And you've got to hope maybe if you get released, you go somewhere else, but that opportunity didn't come up. I came back here and I was more than happy to come back here. I love this place, and now that I'm here again I've just got to make the most of every opportunity, like I said, and hope that I get to make the roster."

(on if being an undersized receiver made him feel like he had to prove himself) "Well, you guys are the only ones that say I'm undersized. I think I'm just fine. I'm a normal human being. In my opinion, they're just bigger. But, this is what I'm given, so unless I grow four inches today nothing is going to change."

(on if he has been compared to other receivers like Steve Tasker and Wayne Chrebet) "If there's a white wide receiver in the NFL, I've been compared to them, so that's just the way it is. That's fine. All of those guys have made a bunch of plays. I haven't heard anyone bad that I've been compared to, so I guess that's a good thing."

RB Chris Brown

(on how much playing time he will see versus the Saints) "Coach has already said I'll probably get a quarter, maybe a little bit more, see how things go and just play it from there."

(on how he is feeling since coming back) "I feel pretty good. I had a couple good weeks of practice. I felt really good this week, so we'll see how things go and (I) should be fine."

(on how to mentally get prepared for a preseason game) "You've got to prepare like it's a regular season game. Everybody is going to be flying around, and you've got to be at that same pace. You can't be worried about playing time, just try and stay healthy and give it everything you've got."

(on how much he has to prove to the coaching staff) "Every year you become a vet, you have to prove that you can still play and still go out there and prove you can make plays. It's really important when you're on a new team, a new organization, to show that you still have it."

(on if it puts more pressure on him with running back Ahman Green out) "I don't really think it matters at all. You've got to go out there and perform at your best no matter who's out there or who's not. Every chance you get, you've got to take advantage of it."

(on if the joint practices this week were good for him) "It feels good as a team going out there and hitting against someone else, seeing different defenses, see how they are playing, instead of hitting ourselves and knowing what we're going to do."

CB Antwaun Molden

(on how he feels going into the game versus the Saints) "I feel well-prepared. I've been studying my playbook. I've been on top of things that coaches have been talking about in the meetings."

(on how the practices against the Saints went for him) "I think it was a good change-up to go down there and see where we are and see how well we are against another opponent. I think it was good."

(on how things were competitive in practices) "It was really competitive. You know it's a new environment, a hostile environment, the cameras were on, and you've got to show up and do your job."

(on his interception) "I think it was a starting point. I was in the right position at the right time. You have to continue to use good technique like coach (Jon) Hoke always talks about."

(on if it was beneficial to practice against the Saints) "Most definitely, I think they were considered one of the Super Bowl contenders in the NFC, and it was nice to practice against them."
