Cushing at practice

First-round draft pick Brian Cushing has signed his contract and is out with the team at practice. The linebacker out of USC was the last Texans draft pick to sign and missed only two days of training camp practice.

Cushing had been in Los Angeles for the past few days as he waited to sign his contract. The Texans agreed to contract terms with him on Saturday morning and had hoped that Cushing would be able to make it to Houston in time for Saturday afternoon practice at 3:30 p.m., but his plane didn't arrive in Houston until 2:40 p.m., so it didn't work out.

Cushing was inserted into the starting lineup at strongside linebacker the moment the Texans drafted him 15th overall in April. He will resume that role during training camp today.
