NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to be at the Texans' home opener against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday, Oct. 5. It will mark the first time an NFL Commissioner has attended a Texans game at Reliant Stadium since Paul Tagliabue was at the first game in team history on Sept. 8, 2002. The Texans won that game 19-10 over the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys.
Goodell **will have a news conference** in the Texans team auditorium at 11:45 a.m. that will be streamed live on Texans TV. He also will be involved in gameday ceremonies to honor Hurricane Ike rescue workers as the Texans look to pay tribute to local heroes with their "Spirit of Texans" game theme.
Though the theme for the game no longer officially is Deep Steel Sunday, Texans players, Texans Cheerleaders and TORO will wear all-blue uniforms. Fans still should feel free to join them in that regard.
Also of note, Texans defensive end Anthony Weaver will appear on Tuesday, Oct. 7 (11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) at the Whataburger located at 13270 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77040 (@Hollister). Weaver was selected as the August Texans Player of the Month.
**Vote here** for your next Texans Community Player of the Month, presented by Whataburger. With your vote, either Kevin Walter, Andre Johnson or Kris Brown will make an appearance at a Houston-area Whataburger location on Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
