The Texans signed free agent quarterback Quinn Gray Monday to a one-year deal. Immediately after singing the contract, Gray spoke with Texans TV. Below is the transcript.

Brooke Bentley (Texans TV): You visited Green Bay and Oakland before coming to Houston. But when you got to Houston, you said, "This is it. This is where I want to be." What sold you on the Texans?

Quinn Gray: Actually, coach (Gary) Kubiak and coach (Kyle) Shanahan sold me. It's a very young team. They are starting to win games here, and I just wanted to be a part of it. Hopefully, I can bring a winning attitude that this team already has and, hopefully, I can just add to it. I'm just glad to be a Texan.

Brooke Bentley: Today you met with head coach Gary Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith. What did they say to you?

Quinn Gray: It's an opportunity for me to come in and compete and play some good football, and that's all that I can ask for. Other than that, you can't ask for anything more – anything much more than the opportunity to compete and play some good football. And that's what we are going to do here in Texas and that's what I'm here for.

Brooke Bentley: Did free agency go the way you thought it would for you?

Quinn Gray: Not really, but at the same time I'm not going to linger on it. It's over for me now. I'm a Texan. It's history. It didn't go as well as I wanted it to, but now I'm settled. I've got a team now. I'm just looking forward to it.

{QUOTE}Brooke Bentley: You spent five years in Jacksonville. What do you like about learning a new system, specifically Houston's system?

Quinn Gray: There is an opportunity for a quarterback in this system to have a lot of success. Matt's (Schaub) has had a lot of success since he's been here. They brought him in last year and all that good stuff. I really kept up with him. Even though we were in Jacksonville, we keep up with other quarterbacks and stuff like that. He's had a lot of success here even though he's been a little bit hurt, but other than that, he's had a good time and putting up some good numbers here since he's been here. It's just appealing when a quarterback sees that kind of stuff – to want to be a part of it.

Brooke Bentley: Of course, Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels are both here. Talk about the depth they have now that you are added to the mix?

Quinn Gray: Actually, a little bit more experience. I had an opportunity to play some games last year – here, Tennessee, Tampa Bay and New Orleans. So it's going to be a fun time and some healthy competition. We're going to have fun in that quarterback group.

Brooke Bentley: You had a phenomenal game here last year. You threw for over 300 yards and no interceptions. You also have some friends here like Andre Johnson. That's got to make it an easier transition?

Quinn Gray: It makes it a whole lot easier to come to a team where you know some guys. Andre played in Jacksonville with Anthony Maddox. Travis Johnson played in Tallahassee at Florida State. You know, I know quite a few of the guys on the team and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to start with a fresh start.
