TEXANS TEAM NOTES

THE TEXANS:

  • Recorded the team's 17th interception of the season, tied for the third-highest mark through 16 games in franchise history
  • Have now forced 25 turnovers on the season, tied for eighth-most in the NFL this season and the eighth-highest total through 16 games in franchise history

SCORING PLAYS:

  • 2nd Quarter – WR Brandin Cooks caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from QB Davis Mills, capping off a 14-play, 80-yard drive (7:15), giving the Texans a 7-0 lead following the converted extra point attempt by K Ka'imi Fairbairn

  • The following five Texans players were inactive for the game: DL Maliek Collins, DB Cre'von LeBlanc, DB Jimmy Moreland, DL Chris Smith, DL Derek Rivers and QB Deshaun Watson

RB REX BURKHEAD

  • Led the team with 47 rushing yards on 16 carries (2.9 avg.), also hauling in six passes for 32 receiving yards (5.3 avg.)

WR NICO COLLINS

  • Finished second on the team with 35 receiving yards on two catches (17.5 avg.)

WR BRANDIN COOKS

  • Led the team with 66 receiving yards on seven receptions (9.4 avg.) and a touchdown
  • Caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from QB Davis Mills in the second quarter to give the Texans a 7-0 lead
  • Eclipsed 1,000 yards on the season for the sixth time in his career, becoming the third Texans player to record consecutive seasons with 1,000 receiving yards
  • Became the 36th player in NFL history to record six 1,000-yard receiving seasons
  • Is one of eight active players with at least six 1,000-yard receiving seasons

LB KAMU GRUGIER-HILL

  • Finished tied for third on the team with seven tackles (five solo)

DL JORDAN JENKINS

  • Logged two tackles (both solo), 1.0 sack, one quarterback hit and one tackle for loss
  • Sacked QB Trey Lance for an 8-yard loss in the second quarter, giving him 2.5 sacks this season and 25.0 sacks for his career

P CAMERON JOHNSTON

  • Punted seven times for 328 yards (46.9 avg.) with a long of 53 yards, pinning one punt inside the 20
  • Dropped a 39-yard punt at the San Francisco 4-yard line, marking his sixth punt within the opponent 5-yard line this season. Tied Shane Lechler (2013) for the second-most punts within the 5-yard line through 16 games in Texans history

DB DESMOND KING II

  • Finished tied for third on the team with seven tackles (five solo), also tallying one interception, two passes defensed and one special teams tackle
  • Intercepted QB Trey Lance for a 22-yard return in the second quarter
  • The play marked King's third interception of the season, which tied a career high

LB CHRISTIAN KIRKSEY

  • Led the team with nine tackles (five solo), also tallying one pass defensed

DL JACOB MARTIN

  • Shared a tackle for a loss of three yards with DB *Justin Reid *on RB *Elijah Mitchell *in the first quarter, forcing a turnover on downs

QB DAVIS MILLS

  • Completed 21-of-32 passes (65.6 percent) for 163 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a 75.4 passer rating
  • Threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to WR Brandin Cooks to give the Texans a 7-0 lead

DB TERRANCE MITCHELL

  • Finished tied for third on the team with seven tackles (five solo), also notching one tackle for loss

DB ERIC MURRAY

  • Finished second on the team with eight tackles (six solo), also notching one pass defensed

DB JUSTIN REID

  • Made a season-high two tackles for loss in addition to six tackles (five solo)
  • Shared a tackle for a loss of three yards with DL Jacob Martin on RB Elijah Mitchell in the first quarter, forcing a turnover on downs

DB TREMON SMITH

  • Returned five kicks for 98 yards (19.6 avg.), his second-most kick return yards of the season
