Practice quotes: Friday

On Friday the Texans practiced outside at the Methodist Training Center. After, head coach Gary Kubiak answered questions from the media. The following is a transcript of his interview.

Head Coach Gary Kubiak
(on practice today) "(C) Chris (Myers) is back today and he practiced. We were pretty light; we're walking through, but he looks like he's good to go, so we should be fine. (DE Tim) Bulman's fine."

(on the bike giveaway) "We've been doing that now for four years and it's pretty cool. We just do some things within football where we raise a little money and then—I remember starting the first year I think we gave away 70 bikes. This year I think we gave away almost 250 or whatever. So it's pretty cool. It's great to see these kids. These players are in a position to help and it's nice that they do that. I think that the players really enjoy that. They realize that they can touch a lot of kids' lives. They get tied up in their football, which they should; that is their job, but they can really have a big influence on these young girls and boys."

(on TE Joel Dreessen's shoulder) "He's fine. He practiced all week and he's good to go. He'll be ok. Joel is just beat up but he'll make it."

(on meeting the astronauts after practice today) "That was pretty cool. I was talking to them and asking about their mission and some of the things. Something tells me what they do is a little tougher than what we do but they really talked about teamwork and it's just really an honor to meet them."

(on one of the astronauts having been in the NFL) "Yeah I didn't realize that. He told me he went to Richmond and was drafted and just very impressive people for them to sit there and of course they're talking about everything that took place but the thing that I got out of it was that they kept talking about teamwork and how much they needed each other. That's kind of what we do for a living. But that's very impressive. What those guys do and just sitting there visiting with them and they're so upbeat and they could have talked all day about their mission and some of the things that took place and I was just very fortunate to meet them."
