Slaton to visit Ike-damaged HFD station

Tuesday is the players' day off at Reliant Stadium during the regular season, beginning tomorrow. It's also a day that players use to make appearances and do charity work in the local community.

Along those lines, running back Steve Slaton will visit the crew at Houston Fire Department Fire Station No. 20 tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. CT. Slaton, who wears number 20 for the Texans, will present a framed jersey to the station's crew members in honor of their service to the city of Houston.

Fire Station 20 was damaged during Hurricane Ike in early September 2008. It was the only HFD station that was forced to close because of hurricane damage. The station did not re-open until Dec. 17, 2009, and had a grand re-opening ceremony in January 2010.
