Sleeper of the Game | Week 3 at Jaguars

Sleeper of the Game presented by Mattress Firm is adapted from a pregame conversation between Marc Vandermeer and John Harris.

Vandermeer's Sleeper

Jaylin Noel has emerged as a dynamic force on special teams, and his impact could be the difference-maker in Sunday's crucial matchup against Jacksonville.

"I am building off of what you just said about special teams. Jaylin Noel," Marc Vandermeer said when selecting his Sleeper of the Game presented by Mattress Firm. "With Jaylin Noel back in the return game, he had two massive kick returns, and then he had the incredible punt return."

The comparison to Houston's past success in Jacksonville is striking. Two years ago, Andrew Beck's kick return for a touchdown helped fuel a Texans victory in this same venue. "Beck kickoff return for a touchdown. Blocked field goal, Will Anderson Jr.," John Harris recalled of that memorable performance.

Noel's recent performance against Tampa Bay showcased his explosive potential. Despite the loss, his special teams contributions were among the few bright spots for Houston. "This might be one of those opportunities for Jaylin Noel to get loose, make a play, make a big play on a return," Vandermeer noted.

With the Texans' offense struggling to find consistency through two games, field position could prove critical in Sunday's contest. Noel's ability to flip the field or potentially house a return could provide the spark Houston desperately needs.

"I don't know how many receptions or looks he'll get, but I feel like there's a way to get him involved in the offense a little bit too," Vandermeer added, suggesting Noel's impact might extend beyond special teams.

If the Texans are going to end their winless streak, they'll likely need game-changing plays. Noel has already proven he can deliver those moments.

Harris' Sleeper

"I like Woody Marks in this one. Woody Marks showed you a lot on Monday night," Harris said. "And he's going to show you a whole lot more on Sunday in North Florida. The rookie will be heard from early and often in this game. That's a bit of a prediction for you."
