Texans Q&A: Eugene Wilson

2722.jpg

Safety Eugene Wilson played in New England for five years before joining the Texans. So far this season, he has recorded two interceptions and earned a spot in the starting lineup.

Brooke Bentley (Texans TV): You've played both safety and corner, what is your most natural position? (anonymous fan)

Eugene Wilson: Well, I played corner in college, but since I've been in the NFL I've been playing safety. So, I would say I'm more of a safety now."

{QUOTE}Brooke Bentley: You played with the Patriots when they won the Super Bowl. How does that experience help this young Texans defense? (David Bruder, Houston)

Eugene Wilson: I would consider myself somewhat of a veteran now, and there are things that you just pick up going along in the league. It's just little things that I try and help my teammates with, the younger guys, and it seems to help sometimes.

Brooke Bentley: Have you talked to the younger guys about that Super Bowl appearance and what have they learned from you about that? (David Bruder; Houston, TX)

Eugene Wilson: Of course, I get a lot of questions about how was it going to the Super Bowl and this and that and how many rings do you have. But, overall, you just tell them it's just like a dream come true. I was fortunate enough to, my rookie year, be able to go to the Super Bowl and get it done right away, but I'm still looking to try and get back one day. It's just a goal.

Brooke Bentley: You were inactive for the first two games at the beginning of the season, then I heard you went to coach Kubiak and said, 'I can go make plays for you.' Did that really happen and what did coach Kubiak say?

Eugene Wilson: I really did go talk to him, and he seemed to feel the same way that I was feeling. We agreed that he was going to try to get me out on the field more and that's when Cincinnati, I actually played a lot more and the next week I was starting.

Brooke Bentley: Texans have been rotating players in the secondary a lot. How has that rotation worked? Has it thrown you off or has it helped? (anonymous fan)

Eugene Wilson: We're just trying to find a group that can go out there and eliminate big plays, get the communication right and just get the job done. They're searching for the right group out there. We're going to keep working at it and try to get better."

Brooke Bentley: What's it like going from New England to Texas? (Mike Gilliam; Merrillville, IL)

Eugene Wilson: Weather change. I like the weather out here a lot better. New England, it was a great organization. I really enjoyed myself out there. This is a new place, new surroundings and I'm just getting used to everything. I'm liking it.

Brooke Bentley: It is November and it's sunny and gorgeous. You really can't beat that.

Eugene Wilson: Not at all. I'm loving it.
