Texans Quotes: November 13

Head Coach Bill O'Brien
(on OLB Jadeveon Clowney's status) "I would say day-to-day again. I don't, I really don't know. He's dealing with a back issue and it's painful, so we've got to give it a little more time. I would say he would be unlikely to play on Monday night though."

(on HB Giovani Bernard and HB Jeremy Hill and the way the Bengals use them) "No question, you have to know when they're in the game because it's a little bit different, both different playing styles, Hill being a little bit bigger, a little bit more of a downhill runner, Bernard being more of a fast, quick guy. Sometimes they're in the game at the same time, which is very difficult. It's a big challenge. Offensively, they have a lot of weapons. Sometimes you go against offenses and maybe they have two or three top guys. To me, these guys have the two backs, A.J. Green, (Tyler) Eifert, then it's (Mohamed) Sanu, then it's Marvin Jones, a good offensive line, I mean it's a big challenge."

(on how badly he feels for what OLB Jadeveon Clowney is going through with his injuries) "Look, it hasn't been easy for him. No question about it. He's had to deal with some injures early in his career. You don't wish that on anybody. He's in there right now trying to get better, trying to get treatment, trying to get back out on the field. Injuries are part of the game, and when they happen to young players it's important for young players to really learn how to deal with it and try to get over it and that's what he's doing. He's working with the trainers to get treatment and trying to get back out on the field and help our team."

(on the flexibility TE Ryan Griffin would add to the offense if he's ready to go) "Griff should be able to go and that will help us because I think that, like I said the other day, at the end of training camp, and then before he got hurt, at the end of OTAs, I mean this guy was doing some really good things. He was one of our more improved players relative to when we first came here. Look forward to him getting back in there. He hasn't played in a while. I'm not sure if he'll go out there and have 10 catches for 200 yards, but I think having him back in there will help us."

(on when they plan to activate TE Ryan Griffin) "Not sure how we're going to do that. We're still talking about doing that."

(on if he feels like the players are ready to get back to playing another team) "Yeah, do get that sense, I mean these guys are excited to play. We had a very sharp practice today, and I know that these guys are very, very excited to get back out on the game field. I think it was good that we won our last game before the time off. I think going into the bye with a win is always good, and I think these guys have practiced hard and I think they're excited to get going, but again we have a couple more days here. We've got to shore some things up here but they're excited to play on Monday night."

(on QB Andy Dalton getting the ball out quickly and what they need to do to limit his play) "It's hard, especially if they seven-man protect it, it's hard to get home because the ball is coming out so quick. You've got to do a lot of different things. Obviously last year we batted a lot of balls. I think we've done that a little bit this year but not maybe as much as we did last year. There's other things you can do that I'm not going to really get into with you right here right now, but that's something that they do really well and we're going to have to be ready for that."
