Texans vs. Patriots By the Numbers | Daily Brew

It's time for the Patriots to come to town for just the second Sunday home game of the season. Let's dive into the numbers in this matchup.

12 - The Texans have played the Patriots more than any team not in the AFC South since 2009. Sunday's matchup will be the 12th contest in the past 13 seasons.

3 - There were just three years in which the Texans didn't face the Patriots - 2010, 2011 & 2014.

2 - There were two years in which the Texans faced the Patriots twice - 2012 & 2016 - both of those years, both games were at Gillette Stadium.

3 - When Patriots rookie QB Mac Jones steps on the field on Sunday, he'll be the third different QB that the Texans have faced in the last three consecutive matchups with the Patriots. In 2019, Tom Brady led the Pats offense, while last year it was Cam Newton at the helm.

1 - The Texans will presumably start one player in the same offensive position that started on Sunday night against the Patriots in 2019 - Laremy Tunsil.

2 - The Texans could potentially start just two players in the same offensive position that started against the Patriots a little over a year ago in 2020 - Brandin Cooks and Pharaoh Brown.

47 - These two teams combined to rush for 47 yards against the Bills and Buccaneers, respectively, last Sunday. The Texans ran for 48 yards on 18 carries, while the Patriots registered minus-one yard on eight carries against the defending champion Bucs.

5 - The Texans have five interceptions through the first four games of this season.

3 - The Texans had three interceptions throughout the entire 2020 season.

7 - The Texans have forced SEVEN fumbles through the first four games of the 2021 season

1 - The Texans have only been able to recover one of those seven fumbles. The past two weeks, the Texans have forced five fumbles, but unfortunately, they've been unable to recover any of them.

3 - The Texans have faced three QBs that were drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft - Baker Mayfield (CLE), Sam Darnold (NYJ to CAR) and Josh Allen (BUF). Unfortunately, they lost to each of those quarterbacks.

2 - When Patriots QB Mac Jones steps on the field, the Texans will face their second 2021 first-round quarterback - Trevor Lawrence (JAX) and Jones (NE)

13 - Even though the Texans offense has struggled the past two weeks, in particular, it is 13th in the league in 3rd down efficiency.

14 - The Texans defense is also in the top half of the league when it comes to 3rd down efficiency as well, sitting 14th in the league through four games.

2 - This is the second matchup of the NFL season that features 2021 rookie quarterbacks - Jones faced Zach Wilson (NYJ) in Week 2, and he'll face Davis Mills on Sunday.

4 - The Patriots had a different pass-catcher lead the team in receptions in each of the four weeks of the season. Nelson Agholor, James White (IR), Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers. The second-leading receiver on the team is TE Hunter Henry, and he has not led the team in receptions for any game.

Okay, that'll do it for this one. See ya Sunday, everyone!!

The Texans will host the New England Patriots in Week 5. Sunday's kickoff is set for noon CT. Click here for tickets.
