USC's LBs impress at pro day

Talent evaluators went gaga over the linebacker triplets at USC's pro day on Wednesday. Especially Clay Matthews. He ran the 40 in 4.57 after running 4.62 at the combine and impressed during coverage drills. The NFL Network's Mike Mayock couldn't stop talking about Matthews' fluid hips. Watch **this** video and see for yourself.

Brian Cushing wasn't as smooth in coverage, but scouts think he is better at getting after the quarterback

Middle linebacker Rey Maualuga had the most to prove because he injured his hamstring at the combine and didn't complete his workouts in Indy. Maualuga, who Saints coach Sean Peyton has described as never leaving "leaky yardage," looks best with his pads on because of the way he lays people out. Still, scouts were happy with what they saw from the Trojan, who ran the 40 in times ranging from 4.59 to 4.71.

The Texans didn't send a scout to LA because they are in daylong meetings for two weeks at Reliant Stadium, but that doesn't mean they weren't keeping track of the triplets.
