The Combine is over and now that I'm done surveying the talent (Full disclosure: I just interviewed a lot of national media members and ate a bunch of shrimp cocktail) I'm ready for the next phase of the VanderMock.
I asked Nick Caserio if he wanted my input and he asked if I needed medical attention.
Here we go…
Round 1 Kenyon Sadiq TE Oregon
He ran the fastest tight end time ever at the Combine. Vernon Davis might have run faster but they used a sundial to time the 40 back then. And for those who poo-poo the name of Vernon Davis – yes I know the career could have been better but he's 13th on the all time TE receptions list. Oh, Sadiq also blocks and catches the ball well.
Round 2 Mike Washington Jr. RB Arkansas
He's 6-1, 220+, runs a 4.33 and averaged over six yards per carry. Gimme. 'But Vandy, don't we have enough backs?' NO! The more, the merrier. Get these two playmakers to start out the draft and let the good times roll. Also, have you seen Jayden Higgins doing speed training on Instagram? This is going to be a breakout year for the offense!
Round 2 Gennings Dunker G Iowa
A corn fed guard is necessary to help bolster the interior. And Dunker not only has a catchy name, but he has a mullet that would make Patrick Swayze and Rod Stewart envious. We've been missing that kind of thing around here and it's just the sort of ingredient needed to take the running game to the next level.
Round 3 Caleb Tiernan T Northwestern
He might not be on the board at this point but I'm thinking that it's possible to get this 6-7 'blocks-out-the-sun' player who could also switch to guard. Maybe I just took him because there's no way I could have gotten into Northwestern with my high school resume. Unless they had a propensity to accept outstanding garage band guitarists who had yet to find their true calling.
Round 4 Dontay Corleone DT Cincinnati
If you think I'm NOT drafting a player named Corleone, you're nuts. I don't want any trouble with the five families. He drops a bit because of some health concerns, and he might not fit the typical Ryans-Burke interior DL, but he's very tough to move out of the way, and that's currency in this spot.
Round 5 Lewis Bond WR Boston College
He finished as BC's all-time leader in receptions. OK, these days that's like pointing out that Crash Davis fictionally got the minor league home run record in Bull Durham. But still, he can catch, runs routes well and I've got a feeling he's going to stick somewhere.
Round 5 Ahmaad Moses S SMU
He had over 100 tackles and five picks for the Mustangs in 2025. He had 15 tackles in that overtime win over Miami. And when you look at his pic, he looks mean. Like it's not going to be a pleasant experience going over the middle. We like that kind of thing around here.
Round 7 Tacario Davis CB Washington
'Wait, he's still available here?' Yes, every year a few players slip because teams have other needs or they forget how to spell a prospects name. Remember, in the VanderMock, anything is possible. He's 6-4 and runs a 4.41. We'll find a spot for him.
