Wild play

It didn't involve any Texans, but a play unfolded a few minutes ago that I've got to at least mention. NFC quarterback Donovan McNabb was intercepted by Broncos safety Brian Dawkins near midfield. Dawkins returned the ball three yards to the NFC 46, then lateraled to Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey. Bailey returned the ball 16 yards to the NFC 30, then lateraled to Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Revis then fumbled the ball while, it appeared, he was trying to lateral it, and the man who intercepted the ball in the first place, Dawkins, recovered at the NFC 43.

"Welcome to the Pro Bowl," a gameday staffer remarked to chuckling reporters seated in front of me in the press box.

Five plays after Dawkins' interception, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew scored a touchdown on a four-yard run to give the AFC a 31-24 lead. That's 21 points that have been added to the scoreboard in the first four minutes of the second half -- it was a 17-17 game at halftime. An AFC South player has been involved in all four of the AFC's touchdowns today.
