Wright becomes fourth former Texans coach to join Redskins' staff

Former Texans head strength and conditioning coach Ray Wright has been named to the same position with the Washington Redskins, the Redskins announced today.

Wright is now the fourth former Texans coach on Mike Shanahan's staff in Washington, joining Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur and assistant special teams coach Richard Hightower.

Wright was the Texans' head strength coach for one season, 2009. He was replaced earlier this offseason by Cedric Smith.

Wright has ties to the DC area: He spent one year as an assistant strength coach at the University of Maryland, and he worked as an assistant strength coach under Dan Riley with the Texans for seven seasons (2002-07). Riley was the Redskins' strength and conditioning coach from 1982-99.
