Hunger relief has always been an important part of what we do at H-E-B. Since the beginning, H-E-B has recognized the need as well as the responsibility to help our neighbors, and it continues to this day. That's why H-E-B is strongly committed to food banks in our communities. Founded in 1982, the H-E-B Food Bank Assistance program has delivered more than 1 billion pounds of product to 5,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico. Last year, the program donated more than 33 million pounds of food.
The H‑E‑B Sacks for Hunger program started in 2008 and has since provided over one million meals to help kids and families in the Houston area.
During the 2023-2024 Season, the Texans Defense set a franchise record for most sacks with 46 in the regular season and another 7 sacks in the postseason for a total of 53 Sacks! As a result, H-E-B will donate $53,000 to the Houston Food Bank in partnership with the Houston Texans. A celebratory event will be held this spring included members of the Texans Defense, H-E-B and the Houston Food Bank.
