Since Ryan Mallett was named the new starter at quarterback last Wednesday, his head coach Bill O'Brien and several teammates have explained why Mallett is prepared for the job.

The reasons varied.

The fourth-year pro takes over for veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was 4-5 to start the season.
