2014 NFL Draft to be held May 8-10

The NFL Draft will be pushed back a couple of weeks in 2014.

The league announced Tuesday that, due to a scheduling conflict at Radio City Music Hall, the 2014 draft will be held May 8-10 in New York. The draft typically takes place in the last weekend of April.

According to the NFL, the decision to move the draft was made after discussions with club personnel and key NFL business partners. No decision has been made regarding the dates of the NFL Draft in 2015 and beyond. A variety of alternatives are being explored, including holding the draft at Radio City or at other locations, either in the New York area or in other cities.

There will not be any significant changes in the dates of other NFL offseason events next year. The NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is scheduled for Feb. 18-25, 2014. The new league year and free agency period will begin on March 11. The NFL's annual meeting will be in Orlando, Fla., from March 23-26.

The NFL announced that the change in date of the draft will have no effect on when rookies may begin to report to their clubs, the dates of offseason programs or the length of offseason programs.
